MULTIBOND-23 is a solvent free and permanently
tacky adhesive. It is an aqueous dispersion of acrylic copolymers, anionic. It
is characterized by high internal strength (cohesion) and high adhesion to
bonded surfaces. After water evaporation the adhesive film becomes transparent
and is resistant to aging.
TYPICAL APLICATIONS:
MULTIBOND-23 is mainly used to cover paper, foil,
textiles and plastics (such as soft and hard PVC, polyester, polyethylene) with
pressure-sensitive, tacky surface. As there is plenty of different materials
available on the market is it recommended to perform control tests before
accepting this adhesive for production.
Popular applications of MULTIBOND-23 include (but
are not limited to) bonding foil to chipboards or fibreglass enforced plastics
to hard polyurethane foam. MULTIBOND-23 is also ideal for bonding of styrofoam
boards.
APPLICATION GUIDELINES:
Initial information:
Prior to using the adhesive it is necessary to get
acquainted with all the safety information and guidelines comprised in the
material safety data sheet (MSDS). General safety precautions are also valid
even for product which are not classified as hazardous according to current
safety regulations.
Surface preparation:
Bonded surfaces must be dry, free from dust, grease
and oil.
Bonding:
MULTIBOND-23 can be applied using spray guns, brushes
or rollers – in some cases diluting is necessary. The product has a high solids
content and dries very quickly - in automated application constant adhesive
flow is needed to avoid clogging the nozzle. Typical usage is not less than
20g/m2 but in case of rough or absorbing surfaces this value may
increase drastically.
Cleaning:
Uncured product may be removed – also from the
tools and other equipment – with the use of warm water. When cured remove the
adhesive with ethyl acetate.
